Well, this is it. The big one. Show #500. It’s been looming large for a while now. 500 opportunities to grab the microphone and play you some of the finest recorded music available.
I started this little venture in November, 2017, some time after an invitation from DJ Gidget. This was a little “2 or 3 times a month” side project to my already existing Twirl Radio show, which quickly jumped to every week, when I decided I couldn’t stand NOT being on the air some Tuesday evenings. Then the global Covid pandemic hit in 2020, and before you knew it, I added the Saturday morning/afternoon show and ended production on Twirl. Woody Radio became my full time, twice a week radio home. That’s something like 100 shows a year, so it’s really easy to build to a number like 500.
But what’s in it for you? Lots of great music, the inside line to lots of great musical artists, and hopefully, a whole bunch of fun.
In this particular episode, lots of our favorite musical artists jump in and offer their greetings, and in a few cases, a special song for the occasion. To say I’m deeply honored is an understatement. But I’m always honored that these guys and gals entrust me and Woody Radio with their great music, week by week. This show turned out rather fun. (Author’s note: the Apollo 11 audio starts the show because this originally aired on July 20th, the anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The first song was Juliana Hatfield’s “Everybody Loves Me But You”, because it’s the first song I’d ever played on any of my radio shows, back in January, 1998.)
