In this episode, we meet Alex Jimenez, a San Francisco Bay Area musician who I’ve actually known for quite some time, but only in the world of social media. With his amazing new album “Another Day” recently released, we both decided it was time to chat about it.
We met through our mutual friend, Lindy LaFontaine, a longtime friend of my radio shows. Lindy lends harmony vocals to this album. Another social media friend, Scott Mickelson, produced the record, helping Alex make this the album he’s always wanted to release.
And it’s a really good one. It’s a loud, shoegazey affair, with some acoustic and blues elements, but really moves along quickly. It has its share of earworms to lure you into listening over and over. Some of the lyrics are about real life situations, and there’s a thread of caring for the earth and leaving something better for future generations. Hard to argue with any of that. Check out “Claire of the New Shirts” or “Bucky On The Beach” as great examples of his sound.
Alex has been making music nearly his whole life, on his own projects and for others as well. He even worked as a sound engineer for live theatre. You might also know him as the bassist for Thunderegg. More information at https://alexjimenezmusic.com.
We had a lighthearted and upbeat conversation, and Alex’s positivity was infectious. Enjoy the show!
