In this episode, Ian Wright and Peter Maxted of The Jack Rubies join me for some conversation and music. The Jack Rubies’ story is remarkable, in that the conventional wisdom would have you believe that this whole conversation and post wouldn’t be possible. The Jack Rubies were a great touring and recording band from Great Britain, back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Jangly, indie alternative rock. But they kind of ran their course, and disbanded (Ian and Peter discuss that in this show). Here’s the amazing thing: all five original members got back together in the past couple of years, and recorded a new album: Clocks Are Out Of Time. Although three of them live in the US and two are in the UK, with today’s technology, they made it happen, and are on the verge of releasing it to the public next week. Hence, today’s conversation. The album is really great–it’s all the things I like best about alternative rock–but with a 2024 sensibility. They really had the time and bandwidth to hone this one to their liking.
